Traditional Medicinals describe the taste as sweet and silky, with a distinct licorice flavour. Alongside the licorice and slippery elm, the blend includes marshmallow root, wild cherry bark, fennel, cinnamon and orange peel. All ingredients are certified organic, there are no added natural flavours, and the bags are natural fibre. This is the Original with Slippery Elm blend.

• Organic licorice root: 760mg
• Organic slippery elm bark: 80mg
• Organic licorice root dry aqueous extract (6:1): 60mg
• Organic marshmallow root: 60mg
• Blend, 1,040mg: organic wild cherry bark, organic bitter fennel fruit, organic Saigon cinnamon bark, organic sweet orange peel

How to prepare

• Pour about 240ml (8fl oz) of freshly boiled water over one tea bag.
• Cover and steep for 10–15 minutes.
• Squeeze the bag before removing it.

Traditional Medicinals suggest 4–6 cups a day, and recommend it with honey.

Before you drink it

Traditional Medicinals advise consulting a healthcare practitioner before use if you have low potassium levels, are taking diuretics, corticosteroids, cardiac glycosides such as digoxin or potassium-depleting agents, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use it if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, or impaired kidney or liver function, or if you are allergic to plants in the parsley (Apiaceae) family such as fennel or coriander.
