TS or TRS?
- Mono (TS) patch cables, such as the MXR DCP06, carry ordinary guitar and bass signal between pedals.
- TRS leads, such as the MXR TRS ribbon patch, are for sockets marked stereo, TRS, balanced, expression or control. Check the pedal manual before you buy.
Getting a tidy board
- Measure jack to jack with the pedals in place and pick the shortest length that reaches without strain.
- Flat ribbon and low-profile plugs take up less room than standard right-angle jacks.
- Carry a spare patch: a failed link between two pedals kills the whole chain.
