Choosing a jack lead
- Length: 3m covers a pedalboard-to-amp run or a rehearsal room; 6m gives room to move on a bigger stage. Longer runs can soften the top end of a passive guitar.
- Plugs: a right-angle plug sits neatly in a guitar's side jack; straight plugs suit front-facing sockets and pedals.
- Build: a well-shielded cable keeps hum and handling noise down.
The leads
- Ernie Ball Flex: straight-to-straight, 95% shielded, in 3m and 6m. Coils easily.
- TGI 3m jack lead: straight to right-angle, a sensible spare for the gig bag.
Not for speakers
Use these between instrument, pedals and amp input only. The amp-to-cab run needs a speaker cable.
