The Ernie Ball Volt (P06191) is an ultra-compact isolated power supply for guitar and bass pedalboards. It powers analogue and digital pedals from four regulated 9V DC outputs plus an 18V DC thru, and Ernie Ball states that every output is completely isolated from the input and from all other outputs.

At 90 x 59 x 23mm it fits on crowded boards. Ernie Ball says the universal AC adapter lets you plug into virtually any outlet, from the US and UK to the EU and China, and LED indicators show the status of each input and output at a glance. The design is thermally protected and short-circuit proof, and if a pedal asks for more than an output can supply, the Volt shuts itself off rather than damaging itself or the pedal.

For more pedals, run a DC cable from the THRU socket of the first Volt to the IN socket of the next; Ernie Ball says a second Volt unit takes you from isolated power for five pedals to nine. Avoid daisy-chaining several pedals from one output: those pedals are no longer isolated from each other and may pick up ground-loop noise. Ernie Ball recommends powering the Volt only with Ernie Ball adapters, and it is intended for musical accessories only, not medical or safety equipment.
