3M Dual Lock is a heavy-duty reclosable fastener: strips of interlocking mushroom-head stems that snap together with an audible click and pull apart by hand. This is a 1m length, 25.4mm (1in) wide, in black with an adhesive backing, to cut for pedalboards, rack panels, cable management and any mount that needs to come apart again.

Dual Lock locks onto itself, so there is no separate hook side and loop side: cut both halves of each fixing from the same length. 3M engineers it to hold in hot, cold, wet or damp conditions, indoors or outdoors.

Why use it instead of hook-and-loop

  • 3M rates Dual Lock at up to five times the tensile strength of typical hook-and-loop fasteners.
  • It opens and closes up to 1,000 times before losing 50% of its original tensile strength (3M figure).
  • No drilling, screws or sewing: peel the liner and press on.

Fitting tips

  • Clean and dry both surfaces before applying.
  • Press firmly along the whole length.
  • Adhesive bonds build over time, so leave it before loading where you can.
