The Vic Firth American Classic 5A is a hickory drumstick with a wood teardrop tip, sold here as one pair. Vic Firth describes the 5A as a great all-round size and weight for any musical situation, which makes it a sensible default for spare sticks.

The American Classic range is turned from select hickory, a dense wood with little flex that gives a more pronounced sound and withstands a great deal of shock. The teardrop tip is deeply back-cut for intensified cymbal response, and the medium taper balances the stick between butt and tip.
