The Evans UV1 8" drum head (B08UV1) is a coated, single-ply tom batter for 8" rack toms: one ply of 10mil film under Evans' patented UV-cured coating. The coating is the point of UV1. Evans says it gives durability and a consistent texture, so you don't have to worry about a coating that flakes, chips or wears through.

Evans rates UV1 toms as very balanced in attack, with long sustain, moderate brightness and more durability than the average single ply, and lists jazz and rock as ideal styles. On an 8" tom, that makes it an open, sensitive single ply with a coated surface that stays consistent across a run of shows.

With Level 360 Technology, the collar gives a level playing surface all the way round and even contact with the bearing edge, for easier tuning and an extended pitch range.
