The Kelly SHU FLATZ is an internal kick drum shock mount for boundary microphones. This version is the one for the Shure Beta 91A, and Kelly SHU lists the same model as fitting the Beta 91, sE Electronics BL8 and Behringer BA 19A. It gives the mic a stable, isolated platform inside the bass drum, lifting it off the shell and any dampening instead of leaving it lying on a pillow or towel.

Four solid rubber isolation rings sit between the drum shell and the FLATZ mounting plate, attached using the drum's existing tuning hardware, so there is no drilling or modification: fitting is a case of removing and replacing four screws inside the shell. Kelly SHU says getting the mic up off the shell puts it closer to the source and opens up its response, and that the mic can stay inside the drum during transport without shifting. For a touring or house kit, that means the boundary mic travels in the drum and sits in the same position every night, which helps with consistency from gig to gig.
