The Remo Controlled Sound Coated Black Dot 14" (CS-0114-10) is a coated snare drum head with a reinforcing dot on the underside. It is a single ply of 10-mil coated film with a 5-mil Bottom Black Dot in the centre, which Remo says adds durability and overtone control and gives focused midrange tones.

The dot sits where the stick lands most, so it suits heavier hitters who dent or wear through a plain single-ply head, and anyone who wants a snare that rings less without adding tape or gel.
