A pack of 10 Guitar Man replacement guitar jack nuts, in a choice of metric M9 or imperial 3/8in thread. These are the hex nuts that hold an output jack socket, or a volume or tone pot, to the body, scratchplate or control plate, so one pack covers both jobs.

A jack socket with a loose or missing nut can turn when a lead goes in or out, which leads to crackles, intermittent signal and strain on the wiring. Keep a pack in the repair drawer or the backline spares box, and match the nut to the thread on the part rather than to the guitar brand.

Choosing the size

  • Metric (9mm): M9 thread, for metric jacks and pots
  • Imperial (9.52mm): 3/8in thread, for imperial jacks and pots
  • Not sure? Measure across the outside of the thread: about 9mm is metric, about 9.5mm is imperial. The two sizes are not interchangeable.
